HOW ISLAM FULFILLS OUR EMOTIONAL NEEDS?

Allah سبحانه و تعالى created the universe and everything in it. He, being Al-Khaliq, created humans (the noblest of creations) and gave us the most beautiful physical features. And He blessed us with another thing, EMOTIONS. Emotions can be our weakness if not catered carefully but they can be our biggest strength as humans. Allah provided us the best solutions for our emotional needs since Al-Khaliq(the creator) knows each and everything the makhlooq(the creation) needs.

So what are emotions?

Emotions encompass our feelings and our bodily reactions to those feelings and play an important role in shaping our responses to different events. Some basic emotions include happiness, sadness, anger, hopelessness etc.

Let’s see how our beautiful deen takes our emotional needs into account and helps us in every situation of life.

Allah سبحانه و تعالى knows that some humans can forget our purpose when they’re extremely happy, some need someone to share their happiness with and some don’t know how to react to happy feelings. Some even get out of control and start disobeying their Lord. Allah taught us to stay humble and be grateful in moments of happiness. The concept of Shukar and especially Sajda-e-Shukr is something unique to Islam. It’s so soothing and powerful that we know our happiness is from Allah.

He said in the Holy Quran:

وَ اِذۡ تَاَذَّنَ رَبُّکُمۡ لَئِنۡ شَکَرۡتُمۡ لَاَزِیۡدَنَّکُمۡ “

And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor].” [Al Quran 14:7
