A dedicated doctor always found solace in his Islamic faith, but it wasn’t until a particular prayer experience that its impact on his life became profoundly evident. One evening, after a long and exhausting shift at the hospital, he found himself mentally and physically drained. As he prepared to leave, a nurse stopped him with urgent news of a patient in critical condition. Despite his exhaustion, he knew he couldn’t turn away.Rushing to the patient’s bedside, his heart raced as he assessed the severity of the situation. The patient’s condition was dire, and the odds were stacked against them. As he began treatment with the last resort of cardiac support (dopamine, adrenaline, and norepinephrine) he felt a sense of helplessness wash over him. This is the last option, the drops of support are at maximum dose. The weight of responsibility pressed heavily on his shoulders. In that moment of desperation, he turned to his faith. Seeking refuge in the familiar rhythm of prayer, he quietly recited verses from the Quran, finding strength in the words that had guided him since childhood. With each prayer, he felt a sense of calm wash over him, as if a burden had been lifted from his weary soul.As the night wore on, he continued to fight for his patient’s life with unwavering determination. Despite the odds, there was a glimmer of hope in the air. Hours passed in a blur, but he remained steadfast in his efforts, drawing strength from his faith and the support of his colleagues. Finally, just as dawn broke on the horizon, there was a breakthrough. The patient’s condition began to stabilize, and a sense of relief flooded the room. His prayers had been answered, and a life had been saved. In the aftermath of the ordeal, he reflected on the profound impact of his faith on his life and work as a doctor. The experience had reaffirmed his belief in the power of prayer and the importance of staying true to his values, even in the face of adversity. From that day forward, he approached his work with renewed purpose and dedication, drawing strength from his faith to guide him through the challenges that lay ahead. And though the road ahead would be filled with trials and tribulations, he knew that as long as he stayed true to his beliefs, he would always find the strength to persevere. The name of the doctor is Zain Abbas and the verse of the Quran was:Supplication recited by Hazrat Yunus (AS) in the belly of the whale:Quran 21:86″لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ””تو ہی خدا ہے، تو بے نظیر ہے، بے شک میں نے ظلم کیا ہے۔””There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.”
